JAKARTA - The Department of Environment and Hygiene (DLHK) of Depok City is having an important job. They want to record all types and conditions of trees in Depok City to find out which ones are healthy and prone to falling.
"The data collection has been running for a week," said Indra Kusuma, Head of Environmental Management and Conservation, Depok City DLHK, Tuesday, October 5.
There were 150 park officials who were deployed to collect data. The plan is to carry out this activity for one month.
"The target is one month. Later we will evaluate what the follow-up will look like," he explained.
Indra said, tree mapping was carried out on all roads. Starting from Jalan Raya Bogor, Margonda, Juanda, Merdeka, Sawangan, Cinere and others.
"What we mapped were the number and conditions, then they were photographed. Currently it is still a manual system. We hope that next year it can be mapped using a digital system," he concluded.
DLHK Depok also asked its residents not to be careless when it comes to cutting down trees. Currently, many residents have taken the initiative to cut down trees due to frequent heavy rains.
"In fact, trees can be streamlined, they don't have to be cut down to the roots," continued Indra Kusuma.
"When the pandemic case is high, everyone needs oxygen. Don't let the trees run out and harm us all. Life must be balanced," he explained.
