Jambi Police Arrest Motorcycle Theft Perpetrators With Debt Collector Mode

JAMBI - Members of the Jambi Police Satreskrim have uncovered a motorcycle theft case with the perpetrator pretending to be a debt collector who will withdraw the victim's motorbike on charges of arrears on credit.

"One of the six perpetrators was arrested, namely Duano Rano alias Rano (39), a resident of RT 11 Kenali Asam Bawah Village, Kotabaru District, Jambi City where the perpetrator is in a syndicate as a member of a debt collector," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jambi Police, Kompol Handres, as quoted by Antara. Handres said the incident occurred on August 30, 2021, at around 14.30 WIB, in front of Indomaret, Jalan Sumantri Brojonegoro, Payo Lebar Village, Jelutung District, Jambi City.

At the time of the incident, the victim was using a black Honda Beat Sporty CBS-ISS motorcycle with the police number BH 4116 IP, on his way from the Telanaipura DPRD Complex to the Jelutung area, and when he arrived at the Prosecutor Park, the victim was stopped by six perpetrators who claimed to be debt collectors. from the MCF financing company who wanted to take the victim's motorbike.

Handres said that the victim, who did not know anything, immediately contacted her parents, who then agreed that the problem would be resolved at the MCF Office. The perpetrator then asked for a motorbike key, and the victim was then carried by the perpetrator using the victim's motorbike.

However, while on the way, the victim was asked to buy a seal. When buying the seals, it turned out that the perpetrator fled using the victim's motorbike. For this incident, the victim suffered a loss of Rp. 16 million, and then the victim reported the incident to the Jambi Police for further investigation.

"From the results of the investigation, we have arrested the perpetrator with the name Rano," said Handres.

In addition, evidence was also secured in the form of a black Honda Beat motorcycle and a black Honda Beat motorcycle registration certificate in the name of Sri Suwanti, and currently the police are still developing to find other perpetrators.
