South Sumatra Police Failed To Deliver 3 Kg Of Methamphetamine From Padang

SOUTH SUMATERA - The South Sumatra Regional Police thwarted the shipment of 3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from Padang, West Sumatra.

The methamphetamine is planned to be circulated by two suspects ST (28) and AV (30) in Palembang City, South Sumatra, who have been arrested by drug detectives.

"The suspect was arrested along with evidence of 3 kilograms of methamphetamine," said Director of the Drug Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Heri Istu Hariono in Palembang, as reported by Antara, Monday, October 4.

According to him, the arrests began when his party received information about the delivery of methamphetamine from Padang to Palembang using a minibus.

After that, his party intensified surveillance until they finally managed to secure the silver Kijang Kapsul car that was carrying the methamphetamine.

The car was traced until it was finally parked in the public parking lot in the Ilir Barat Permai area of Palembang.

"Immediately carried out an ambush, and found methamphetamine stored on the passenger's dashboard floor and there was also something stored at the feet of suspect ST," he said.

"For now, officers are still under investigation regarding the whereabouts and who sent this item," he added.

Both of them are subject to Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) subsides Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132, 127 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum threat of the death penalty.
