Arrows Fly In Attack Of The Yali Tribe In Papua, 6 People Are Killed And Thousands Of Residents Evacuate To The Police Station

JAYAPURA - An attack on one of the tribes in Papua broke out on Sunday, October 3 this afternoon at around 12:45 WIT.

The Yali Tribe was attacked by the Kimyal Tribe using arrows and machetes. The attack was led by the head of the Kimyal tribe, Morome Keya Busup.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, said that the Kimyal tribesmen came to Yali using 2 minibuses. In the attack 6 people died, 41 were injured.

"The injured are still receiving medical treatment at Yahukimo Hospital," said Kamal in a written statement, Jakarta, Sunday night.

The Papuan Police, continued Kamal, had visited the location of the case and evacuated the people who were victims of the attack. The identity of the victim is still being collected by personnel in the field.

"Meanwhile, for the people who are securing themselves at the Yahukimo Police, it is estimated that there are around a thousand people consisting of adults and children," said Kamal.

The police also confiscated evidence in the form of a mini bus used by the perpetrators to carry out the attack. This case has been handled by the Yahukimo Police.

"Members of the TNI-Polri carry out patrols both in the city center and on the outskirts of Dekai, so that the situation returns to conducive," said Kamal.
