"In the afternoon, the construction of the General TNI LB Moerdani Hospital has been completed and is ready to be used to serve the community, especially the people in Merauke Regency," Jokowi said in a Youtube video broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Sunday, October 3.
Jokowi said that the hospital, which was only built for about 20 days, was originally intended to handle COVID-19 in Papua, especially in Merauke Regency.
"But because the current COVID-19 cases have decreased and are sloping, this is also to support the implementation of the 20th PON in Papua, later it can also be used post-PON to serve the entire community," said Jokowi.

Jokowi said this facility was urgently needed to help treat the sick with health services that were fast, easy, and affordable.
