Said Iqbal Et Al Reshape The Labor Party And Will Participate In The 2024 Election: It's Time For Us To Contribute To The Nation

JAKARTA - The President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) Said Iqbal said his party would re-establish the Labor Party in Indonesia. Said Iqbal said that his party would re-declare the Labor Party at the congress starting tomorrow.

"The Labor Party will be re-declared and will hold a congress on October 4-5, 2021 in Jakarta," Iqbal said in a virtual press conference, Sunday, October 3.

Iqbal explained that the Labor Party to be declared was a continuation of the Labor Party which was founded by Muchtar Pakpahan and Sonny Pudjisasono in 1998.

Iqbal said that the Labor Party has a target to become a political party participating in the 2024 General Election. He thinks it is time for workers' groups to take part in the government's political contestation.

"It's also time for us to contribute to this country through parliament through the DPR RI, DPD RI, DPRD 2, DPRD, Regional Head Elections, gubernatorial elections, regents, mayors, even presidential-vice presidential elections. If God wills, we will pass the KPU verification, of course we will. involved in the democratic process in the 2024 elections in Indonesia," explained Iqbal.

Furthermore, Iqbal said the "reborn" Labor Party was founded by 11 founding groups. The first is the old Labor Party board. Then, the other founders were KSPI, the Confederation of Indonesian Prosperous Trade Unions (KSBSI), the Federation of Indonesian Metal Workers Union (FSPMI).

Then, the Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI), the Indonesian Farmers Union (SPI), the Confederation of Indonesian Labor Unions (KPBI), the Federation of Mining Chemical Energy Workers Union (FSPKEP), the Federation of Pharmaceutical Workers Unions and Health Reform (FSP FARKES-R), Indonesian Educator, Honorary and Private Education Forum (FPTHSI), and the Indonesian Women's Movement (GPI).
