Lukas Enembe: XX Papua PON Committee Will Maximum Make Smiles And Laughters Instead Of Crying And Disappointment

JAKARTA - Chairman of PB PON Papua who is also Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said the organizing committee for the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) has made maximum efforts to make the event a success.

This was conveyed at the opening of the sports event at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, Jayapura, Papua on Saturday, September 2.

"Perhaps we cannot give perfection completely, for that I as the general chairman of XX Papua PON apologize if there are shortcomings and inconveniences during the PON implementation," said Lukas as shown on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube.

"But I can assure you that all of the organizing committee will do our best to make lots of smiles and laughs, rather than tears and disappointment," he added.

On that occasion, Lukas also welcomed all the athletes who competed in the XX Papua PON. He ensured that this event had gone through various evaluations and monitoring so that it would run optimally.

"This PON has gone through a lot of routine and ongoing evaluations and monitoring so that finally we can continue to carry out today with various health restrictions," he said.

Lukas believes that this biggest sporting event, which will be held for the first time on Earth of Cendrawasih, will become the glue for the nation's unity. Thus, he invites all parties to make PON XX Papua a success and make it a moment of mutual victory.

"From the Land of Papua, I will show my friends throughout the archipelago, that we Papuan people will always be an inseparable part of Indonesia because red and white will always be sewn neatly in our hearts and souls," said Lukas.

As previously reported, President Jokowi has opened this event. In his speech, he admitted that he was proud to be able to open the sporting event which was held for the first time in Papua. Jokowi said the XX Papua PON is also a picture of progress on the Earth of Cenderawasih.

"This Sports Week illustrates the progress of Papua, showing the infrastructure readiness of the Papuan people in organizing big events to excel in the national and international arena," said the former Governor of DKI Jakarta as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube.

In addition, the implementation of this PON also has great meaning for all people in the country. The reason is that this event has become a stage of unity, togetherness, and even a stage of justice for mutual progress within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
