JAKARTA - Rejang Lebong Resort Police (Polres) officers, Bengkulu Police finally named two people as suspects (father and son) in the case of beating a junior high school student whose video had gone viral on social media last week.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Rejang Lebong Police, AKP Sampson Sosa Hutapea, at the Rejang Lebong Police Headquarters, said that his party had named two people, a father and son, as suspects in the beating of students from a junior high school in Rejang Lebong Regency on September 24.

"Regarding the acts of violence perpetrated by the father and son, yesterday we have designated both of them as suspects," he said.

He explained that of the two people who have been named as suspects, ES (40) and KZF (14) having their addresses at Sukaraja Village, East Curup District.

"However, for child perpetrators, no detention is carried out, because they are still minors and are in school, but the legal process will continue until the trial," he also said.

These two suspects are suspected of having beaten the victim FD (13), a resident of Air Meles Bawah Village, East Curup District, so that he suffered injuries from being hit with a blunt object causing bruising in the left eye, a tear under the left eye, and There is also a blunt object hit on the back.

For this act, the two suspects were charged with violating Article 76C of the Child Protection Act and face a sentence of up to seven years in prison.

"For the condition of the victim, he is still experiencing trauma and is being assisted by officers from the PPA Unit of the Rejang Lebong Police," said Sampson as well.

Previously, a video of a junior high school student in Rejang Lebong being beaten by a father and son on Friday, September 24 at around 10.30 WIB, on Jalan S Sukowati Curup was widely circulated on social media, both Facebook and WhatsApp in the area.

Then the two suspected perpetrators on Monday, September 27 afternoon surrendered themselves to the Rejang Lebong Police Headquarters, after having disappeared for a while from the case.
