Counterfeit Money Maker In Depok Has A Doctor's Degree, Has Been In Cipinang Prison, Same Case

DEPOK – Cimanggis Metro Police managed to dismantle the circulation of counterfeit money (UPAL). A total of four perpetrators namely MP, TS, H and dr OD, have been secured along with evidence.

Depok Metro Police Chief Kombes Imran Edwin Siregar said that the disclosure of this case began with MP (60) who was first caught using counterfeit Rp. 100,000 bills at a grocery shop in the Pal Cimanggis area on September 15, 2021.

"The MP managed to confiscate evidence of upal in the amount of Rp900 thousand in Rp100 thousand denominations. After that, the perpetrator TS (56 years old) was arrested in the Beji area with upal evidence of Rp1.9 million." explained Cimanggis Police Chief Kompol Ibrahim Sadjab to reporters, Depok, Thursday, September 30. From MP, officers carried out investigations and finally arrested H alias Y (58) with upal evidence of around Rp. , with evidence of Rp. 46 million.

The police chief said that of the four perpetrators who were arrested, on average, they had the same status as recidivist cases, namely upal printers. One of the perpetrators has a doctor's degree.

"There are perpetrators who are in charge of making upal, and there are those who distribute it outside the city of Depok, namely Bandung. To get upal from OD, the ratio is 1:10, i.e., one million real money is exchanged for 10 million fake notes in Rp100 thousand denominations," he said.

The evidence that the officers managed to confiscate were counterfeit notes of Rp. 100 and Rp. 50,000, with a total of around Rp. 200 million, printed money, printer machines, scanners, computers, and money printing machines and chemicals.

"The brain of this upal maker has the status of a scholar, a recidivist of the same case and was once detained in Cipinang Prison. He studied self-taught," added the Chief of Police.

The four perpetrators were charged with Article 244 of the Criminal Code, sub 245 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 15 years in prison.
