MAKASSAR - The Makassar Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) have arrested two KB suspects, the perpetrators of the arsonist of the pulpit of the Great Mosque of Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"Earlier, there was a handover from the Jatanras team of two people, with the initials MT and RZ. For the initial examination, MT had used narcotics with a family planning suspect," said Makassar Police Narcotics Head, AKBP Yudi Frianto, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 29.

Both are still undergoing examination by the Narcotics Satres investigators related to narcotics abuse, including their connection with family planning suspects before carrying out the action.

According to Yudi, the suspect from the initial information stated that the family planning suspect left family planning after being influenced by drugs and headed to the Grand Mosque. Then set fire to the pulpit of the mosque on Saturday, September 25 at around 01.17 in the morning.

"At that time, MT did not want to come. But from the testimony of the suspect KB, the item was from MT. But MT denied it. For now, we are confronting who the item belongs to. It is still being investigated further," he said.

Apart from MT, the suspect admitted that he had consumed the item with RZ some time ago, but before the arson incident. The drug in question is synthetic tobacco that can make people lose consciousness.

Not only that, said Yudi, KB also admitted that he had consumed narcotics with RZ some time ago. Yudi emphasized that they consumed the illicit goods prior to the burning of the pulpit of the Makassar Grand Mosque.

"The Jatanras unit team took RZ, from the statement that KB had used synthetic tobacco with him. But it had been a long time, so RZ was also taken into custody and when he was searched, evidence of synthetic tobacco was found on his body," he said.

The two co-suspects, MT and RZ, had their urine tested to determine whether they were positive or negative for further processing.

"After being examined, we then check the urine first at Bidokkes, and we have sent it to the laboratory for evidence of synthetic tobacco. But it is not known whether it is positive or not, the results will come from the laboratory," he said.
