Supervising Police Work: There Are Six Out Of 12 Names Jokowi Must Choose As Kompolnas Commissioner

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD handed over 12 names of candidates for commissioners of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) for the 2020-2024 period to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Later, Jokowi will only choose six names.

Mahfud said the candidates came from various backgrounds, both from elements of the police and community leaders. He said, Kompolnas should be able to help the government accelerate and improve police performance.

"They have gone through five types of selection, administration, written, assessment, health, and interviews. So that later it is hoped that they can help the President through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to accelerate and improve police performance," he said, at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Jakarta, Friday, 17 July.

Supposedly, said Mahfud, the replacement of Kompolnas commissioner for the 2020-2024 period should have been carried out since May. However, the final selection was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"But because there was a pandemic, it was postponed a bit. Even though it had been prepared long before the pandemic, even the old Kompolnas members had already met with the President to give their final assignment report," he explained.

12 names of candidates for the National Police Commission

Candidates who come from the police, namely:

1. Benny Mamoto

2. Eko Hadi Sutedjo

3. Pudji Hartanto Iskandar

4. Supardi Hamid

5. Albertus Wahyurudhanto, and

6. Arief Wicaksono Sudi Utomo.

Meanwhile, candidates from society are:

1. Sri Nurherawati

2. Yosep Adi Prasetyo

3. Joseph

4. Junaedi Saibih

5. Muhammad Dawam, and

6. Poengky Indarti.

Mahfud said that the selection of candidates for Kompolnas members was carried out in earnest, because previously they had formed a selection team. "The selection team is all credible people, we believe they selected them well and objectively," he said.

The selection team, chaired by Suparman Marzuki and accompanied by a deputy chairman, namely Komjen Pol. Moechgiyarto (Deputy Chairman). This team consists of seven people, namely:

4. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mustofa

"Of the 12 names of Kompolnas candidates submitted to the President, three people will be selected from the Police and three from community leaders as members of the National Police Commission for the period 2020-2024," Mahfud said.
