Feeding Stray Cats, Governor Anies: Celebrate Love For Cats And Dogs

JAKARTA - For the Governor of DKI Anies Baswedan, he stated that love must continue to be done to living beings. Including the animals around such as cats and dogs.

This was conveyed by Anies Baswedan after feeding stray cats around the Ancol Dreamland, North Jakarta, as part of commemorating World Rabies Day.

"We don't just commemorate Rabies Day but celebrate love for all creatures, including the animals around us, including cats, dogs and others," said Anies, Tuesday, September 28.

The feeding of stray cats was carried out in the front yard of one of the restaurants in the Carnaval Beach area of Ancol, which was attended by junior high school students and the animal lover community, the Cathy and Friends. The feral cats were given feed made from compressed fish.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Agency (KPKP), Suharini Eliawati, added that in the Ancol tourist area there were about 500 stray cats. The stray cat has been vaccinated and sterilized by the DKI Jakarta KPKP Service.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Geisz Chalifah on the same occasion said that as long as the Ancol area was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic for about five months, the stray cat became emaciated and neglected.

Then, he continued, the animal lover community made Ancol one of the pilot projects to help the stray cat.

"Then the Cathy and Friends welcomed them to make Ancol a pilot project, they were given food for stray cats in Ancol until today's activity happened, how kindness meets others," he said as quoted by Antara.

On that occasion, there was also an adoption of a stray cat in Ancol which was handed over by the animal lover community to one of the residents who adopted it.

Other collaborators involved, namely kitabisa.com and the Indonesian Army BTS, handed over financial assistance to the animal-loving community.
