100 Special Riau Police Personnel Depart To Papua To Help Security

PEKANBARU - The Riau Police dispatched a company of special-capable troops from the Mobile Brigade Unit (Brimob) to assist security in Papua.

A company of Satbrimobdaini soldiers was released by Riau Police Chief Inspector General Agung Setia Imam Effendi, through the Sultan Syarif Kasim Airport (SSK) II terminal, Pekanbaru City.

The Regional Police Chief stated that one company or 100 Brimob personnel with special abilities with thorough preparation and complete supporting equipment were dispatched to help improve security and a conducive situation in the Timika Papua area.

They will later be joined by other personnel on duty in the Security Task Force.

Kapolda Agung accompanied by his deputy Brigadier General Tabana Bangun said that the departure of a company of Mobile Brigade personnel to Timika was to carry out assignments in vulnerable areas, under operational control (BKO) to the Papuan Police.

"Their task is to improve regional security, especially in Timika. There, they will join other Task Forces," said Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi as quoted by Antara, Saturday, September 25.

He emphasized that the 100 personnel sent to Papua were very well prepared, in terms of tactics, capabilities and other supporting tasks.

"100 people who leave, of course also have to return 100 people. Our soldiers are also experienced with various assignments and we hope to be able to complete this task, in order to maintain the sovereignty and integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia," he said.

The Riau Police Chief also gave special directions to 100 of his personnel to always be vigilant and prepare everything as well as possible in the face of potential threats.

"This assignment is not easy. I ask you to always be vigilant, prepare everything so that any threats and obstacles can be faced. This is an assignment with a new and modern pattern, and members are equipped with the ability to overcome everything in Timika," said Inspector General Agung.

The Kapolda also provides moral support for the families of the troops left on duty.

"We want to always maintain a sense of belonging and togetherness. This spirit will be part of the morale of members in carrying out their duties there," said the Kapolda.
