Azis Syamsuddin Admits He Is Isoman And Letters To KPK, Golkar: No Communication Yet

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, asked for a postponement of the examination at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Friday, September 24. Azis reasoned that he was still in self-isolation (isoman) due to contact with a positive person for COVID-19.

Confirming Azis' condition, Golkar Party DPP chairman Adies Kadir admitted that he did not know the current condition of the deputy chairman of his party. He admitted that there had been no further communication after the news of isoman.

"Until now, after the last time he conveyed isoman, there has been no communication," said Adies Kadir, Friday, September 24.

The secretary of the Golkar faction in the DPR revealed that he was still looking for the latest information on Azis Syamsuddin's condition. If he is isoman, he said, it will take 14 days to be able to return to activities.

"According to the recommendation from the Ministry of Health, it means 14 days, so we are still looking for information related to the condition in question," said Adies. Meanwhile, the Head of the Legal Advocacy and Human Rights Board of the Golkar Party, Supriansa, confirmed the request for a postponement of the examination from the Deputy Chair of the Indonesian People's Representative Council (DPR), Azis Syamsuddin, to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) which was originally scheduled for today. Previously, it was reported that the Deputy Speaker of the DPR and the deputy head of the Golkar Party, Azis Syamsuddin, could not attend the examination agenda related to the alleged corruption case of giving gifts or promises related to the handling of cases in Central Lampung Regency, Friday, September 24.

Based on the letter received by the editor, Azis admitted that he was undergoing self-isolation and asked to be examined on 4 October. The letter was shown by the source via a picture message.

"With regard to the summons to the KPK No. SPGL/4507/DIK.01.00/23/09/2021 dated September 15, 2021, in which I was asked to appear before the KPK investigators on Friday, September 24, 2021 for a hearing, I hereby intend to convey The request for postponement of the examination becomes October 4, 2021," the letter said.

The Golkar Party politician admitted that he was currently in self-isolation because he had interacted with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

"I did this to comply with the government's recommendation to do isoman when interacting with people who tested positive for COVID-19 and also to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 chain," Azis wrote.

The letter written by Azis was dated September 23, 2021 and was addressed to the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Director of KPK Investigations, Setyo Budiyanto.
