There Are 141 COVID-19 Clusters In East Java

JAKARTA - The highest number of COVID-19 cases in East Java Province in Indonesia, namely 17,230 cases. Then, East Java also has quite a lot of transmission clusters, namely 141 clusters with 2004 cases.

A member of the Expert Team for the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, Dewi Nur Aisyah, said that the largest cluster was local transmission in 34 district / city clusters with 686 cases. These areas are Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Malang Raya, Situbondo, Gresik, Lamongan.

Then, Madiun Regency, Probolinggo Regency, Tuban Regency, Tulungagung Regency, Mojokerto Regency, Pasuruan City, Lumajang Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Bojonegoro Regency, Probolinggo City, and Pamekasan Regency.

"The highest number of cases is local transmission. There are community groups in the same area, suddenly positive. They have no travel history. It could be that someone who is positive has finally contracted around the area," said Dewi in a discussion. at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Wednesday, July 15.

The second largest cluster is traditional markets. There are 31 market clusters and fish auction places with 199 cases. Dewi said that the market is a very vulnerable location for the transmission of COVID-19.

"This market has tremendous potential. There are many market lists here. The market has a higher cluster potential, the air circulation is not too good, so the number is high," said Dewi.

In addition, there is a hospital cluster with 26 clusters that have 22 confirmed positive cases to date. Several infected people in the hospital cluster have recovered.

The other cluster is a workplace. There are 20 clusters with 272 cases, namely PT HM Sampoerna, RRI, PT Sorini, PT SS. Employees of Kedaung, PT Indo Sedati, Koperasi Situbondo, PT KML Gresik, PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Kimia Farma Jember.

Then, PT Santon, ARY Tulungagung cigarette factory, MTK cigarette factory, PT DLU, Gojek driver, TK factory, PLTU Pacitan, Bank Mg Darmo, PT ATI, and Bank BKN Bratang.

Dewi explained that the cause of the workplace cluster does not mean that the initial infection occurred in the workplace. It is possible that the office has implemented a COVID-19 prevention protocol, but workers are infected on their way to work.

"Even though we wear masks on public transportation, sometimes there are conditions that allow us not to keep our distance, forget to wash our hands and play around with our faces," explained Dewi.
