Central Jakarta Has The Highest COVID-19 Incidence Rate In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Member of the Expert Team for the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, Dewi Nur Aisyah, explained a number of areas with a high incidence rate of COVID-19.

The incidence rate is the number of new COVID-19 cases reported per 100 thousand population. Based on the incidence rate in each district or city, Central Jakarta is the region with the highest incidence rate.

"The incidence rate in Central Jakarta, DKI Jakarta is 314 per 100 thousand inhabitants," said Dewi at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Tuesday, July 14.

Then, another area with the highest incidence rate after Central Jakarta is Jayapura City with 285.49 per 100 thousand inhabitants. Then, Makassar City has an incidence rate of 264.51. The city of Surabaya has an incidence rate of 255.82. The city of Banjarmasin has an incidence rate of 245.82.

Meanwhile, the regions that have the lowest incidence rate are in East Lampung, Lampung, at 0.09 per 100 thousand population. In addition, regions with other low incidence rates were Pidie with 0.23, Tulang Bawang with 0.23, Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan with 0.24, and Tasikmalaya with 0.29.

Then, Dewi explained a number of areas with the highest mortality rates. "When we look at the mortality rate, we can see that the highest mortality rate is in the city of Surabaya with a rate of 22.07 per 100 thousand inhabitants," said Dewi.

Other areas with the highest mortality rate were Banjarmasin City which had a death rate of 17.01 per 100 thousand population, Manado City with 15.85, Palangkaraya City 13.83, and Central Jakarta 13.41 per 100 thousand inhabitants.

In contrast, the areas with the lowest mortality rates are in Cianjur with a mortality rate of 0.04 per 100 thousand population, then Tasikmalaya with a rate of 0.06, Kota Subang with 0.06, Tegal 0.06, and Pemalang with a mortality rate of 0.07 per 100. thousand inhabitants.

Even so, said Dewi, the determination of the incidence rate and mortality rate in each region can change from time to time.

"This is a warning sign for all of us that no area should be careless by controlling COVID-19 in its area," he said.
