JAKARTA - The chaos in the eviction of settlements in Tamansari, Bandung was marked by repressive actions by the police. The National Police began to conduct a deepening. A number of members of the Bhayangkara Corps who were suspected of being involved in the violence were questioned.

Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General of Police M Iqbal, explained that the investigation was carried out by involving the West Java Police Propam. Investigations were carried out on all members of the police involved in securing the evictions in the Tamansari area, Bandung, West Java.

According to him, the investigation of the National Police personnel was carried out to find out the problems that triggered the chaos. In addition, the police also tried to ascertain whether all security measures were in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

"To find out the extent to which the SOP process has been carried out, whether there are allegations of violations and other things," said Iqbal in Jakarta, Monday, December 16.

Separately, the Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Pol Asep Adi Saputra, added that the number of personnel from Polrestabes being questioned was 25 people.

"About 25 people, to first find out the depth of the incident that occurred ... From internally first, because Propam is more focused on internally first," Asep said explaining the focus of deepening.

Regarding the statement by Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Desmond J. Mahesa who urged the removal of the West Java Regional Police as a form of responsibility for the incident, Iqbal said the police had not yet arrived.

"Now we focus on checking first, whether there is a procedural error or what," said Asep.

Previously, the efforts of the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) to convert densely populated settlements in the Tamansari area into Row Houses (Rudet) resulted in rejection. The eviction of residents' settlements ended in chaos.

The residents of the location fought back so that clashes with officers were inevitable. Thursday, December 12, was the peak of the people's anger. The police and residents were eventually involved in the throwing action.

In fact, recently it has also gone viral on social media about violence by the police when the evictions took place. Thus, the National Police also investigated the cause or trigger of the incident.
