8 Provinces Have The Highest Cases With A Contribution Of 74 Percent

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Covid-19 Task Force Expert Team, Wiku Adisasmito, revealed that there are eight provinces with the highest accumulation of COVID-19 cases. These eight provinces have contributed 74 percent of the 34 provinces in Indonesia that have been affected.

"There are 8 provinces that are of concern to the government because of the high number of accumulated cases and the high incidence rate or the number of new cases reported in a certain period," said Wiku at Graha BNPB, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, July 14.

The provinces are East Java with an initial accumulation of 16,658 cases, DKI Jakarta with 14,517 cases, South Sulawesi 6,973 cases, Central Java 5,473 cases, West Java 5,077 cases, South Kalimantan 4,146 cases, North Sumatra 2,323 cases, and Papua 2,267 cases.

"In total 8 provinces, the contribution is 74 percent of all cases in Indonesia," said Wiku.

Most of these cases, he said, contracted the virus but had no symptoms. Such as cough, flu, fever, and shortness of breath or asymptomatic confirmation cases.

Therefore, said Wiku, regions that have contributed to large cases need to increase 3T steps in handling COVID-19, namely examinations (tests), tracing, and treatment.

With this 3T step, the number of new cases will not increase. However, over time, the concentration of corona virus transmission has been minimized, so that the case curve has slowed down even more.

"Hopefully, the contributors to this case will be able to decline for the better and the condition of Indonesia as a whole will be better too," said Wiku.

Wiku also explained the changes in the zoning of areas divided into several categories of risk of transmission. As of July 12, there were 31 high-risk counties or red zones, 177 medium risk counties or orange zones, 204 low-risk counties or yellow zones.

Then, there are 102 that are currently declared districts-cities in the green zone category. In detail, 48 districts / cities have not had new cases for 4 weeks and 54 districts / cities have not been affected by COVID-19.

Wiku said the zoning development of the area can change. "This shows that zoning is very dynamic and the trend so far, at least for 7 weeks, has increased. But vigilance must be maintained to ensure that this zoning will get better over time," said Wiku.
