DEPOK – Several areas in Depok were hit by heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds. As a result, many large trees fell and roofs flew. Even viral on social media, a billboard belonging to the Hermina Hospital on Jalan Siliwangi collapsed due to strong winds.

In the short video, residents can be seen sheltering on the side of the road screaming in fear at the strong winds that knocked down a number of buildings.

The rain that poured down the city of Depok on Tuesday, September 21, gradually took a long time, from 15.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB. Based on reports, a number of trees in the KSU Street area, Cilodong BBM area, Pemuda Street, and the Nature Reserve area also collapsed.

At the Saladin Square Ruko complex on Jalan Margonda, parked motorbikes and cars were damaged by being hit by a billboard and a roof that collapsed due to rain and strong winds.

In addition, the rain caused traffic jams on Jalan Kartini, Jalan Dewi Sartika, and Jalan Arif Rahman Hakim.

"I can't go home, there are traffic jams everywhere," said Endang, a Depok resident who was stuck in traffic on Jalan Dewi Sartika.

Ani, a resident of Depok who came home from work from Jakarta by train, had to wait for the rain to stop at the station to continue her journey home.

"The rain is very heavy, the wind is strong, like a storm," said Ani.

When it rains heavily, the electricity supply to the housing also goes out.

"Since the beginning of the rain, the electricity has gone out, so we can't do activities. After the rain stops, the electricity will come back on," said Joko, a resident of Depok City.
