Griefs Departure Of Zindzi Mandela, Princess Of South African Hero Nelson Mandela

JAKARTA - Zindzi Mandela, the daughter of the hero and former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela, reportedly died on Monday, July 13. The Mandela Legacy Foundation, speaking on behalf of the family, has prepared a funeral for the 59-year-old woman.

Zindzi died in a hospital in Johannesburg, at dawn. No information was shared about the cause of Zindzi's death. The family only said they would immediately announce the time of the funeral to South Africans.

According to Reuters, during his lifetime, Zindzi was not only known as the youngest daughter of anti-apartheid activists, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and Nelson Mandela. Zindzi is also known for his work as Ambassador of South Africa to Denmark.

Zindzi has served in Denmark since 2015. In fact, Zindzi was appointed to head the mission in Monrovia, Liberia. For Zindzi's death, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa gave a sad testimony that illustrates his memory of Zindzi's figure.

"Our unshakable determination in our fight for freedom," said Ramaphosa.

"After the funeral, he will become an icon that will transform our society and step into spaces and opportunities that generations of South Africans have rejected," he added.

During his political career, Zindzi served as Vice President of the Soweto Youth Congress. In addition, he is also an underground agent for the African National Congress Party (ANC).

Hence, Zindzi's death left a hole for the ANC Party. ANC spokesman Pule Mabe revealed Zindzi's big role in the party's progress. "He still has an important role to play in the transformation of our own society and a bigger role to play, even in the African National Congress," he said.
