JAKARTA - Perpetrators of motorcycle theft are now starting to target the parking lots of mosques that have been left by their owners to perform prayers. Such as the case of motorcycle theft that occurred at the Al Barokah Mosque, Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta.

An act of motorcycle theft was caught on CCTV when the perpetrator carried out his action on Monday, September 20, evening.

In the action, the perpetrator pretended to be a mosque congregation who wanted to perform the Maghrib prayer.

When the prayer started, the perpetrators went to the motorcycle parking area and succeeded in carrying out their action of stealing motorbikes belonging to the congregation.

According to eyewitnesses of the incident, Heri, the perpetrator was inside the mosque.

"When the prayer started, he (the perpetrator) came out in front of the door as if he saw the situation around the mosque," Heri told reporters, Tuesday, September 21.

According to Heri, the perpetrator's friends were already waiting in front of the fence, this was done so that it was easier for the perpetrators to escape if they were caught by residents.

"This is not the first time that a motorcycle theft has happened because there has been a similar incident some time ago," he said.

But the victim was not in the mosque, but in a local resident's house.

"It so happened that the victim was a member of the mosque who used to pray here," he said.

Even so, Heri admitted that he did not know whether the victim had reported it to the police or not.

Because he did not see any police checking the location after the theft occurred.

"Yes, if you say it's restless, people are nervous, hoping that there won't be any more motorcycle theft," he said.
