Police Suspect That The Dense Water Plane That Crashed In Papua's Bilogai Was Carrying Excess Goods

JAYAPURA - Intan Jaya Police Chief AKBP Sandi Sultan said it was suspected that the Rimbun Air plane that crashed in the vicinity of Bilogai was carrying building goods exceeding capacity.

"That's why his party conducted an investigation to reveal the allegation and it will be collaborated with the results of the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT). The black boxes have been handed over to the KNKT," said Intan Jaya Police Chief AKBP Sandi Sultan to reporters quoted on Monday, September 20.

He explained that there was some evidence that had been collected regarding the allegation considering that the incident that killed the three crew members was not solely caused by bad weather.

"At the crash site, building materials such as cement, iron pipes, plywood and diesel fuel were found," said Sandi, adding that his party had also received a report if the plane had been repaired before flying.

"Hopefully the results of the investigation can reveal further, especially whether the plane really carried excess goods or not," continued AKBP Sandi.

The Rimbun Air plane with flight number PK-OTW, was reported to have lost contact on the Nabire-Sugapa flight, Wednesday, September 15, and was found at an altitude of 2,400 meters around Bilogai.

The plane piloted by Mirza and co-pilot Fajar and technician Iswahyudi were found dead and their bodies were buried in their respective villages.
