Apparently, Many Millennials Take Advantage Of Housing Financing Subsidies

JAKARTA - According to the records of the Ministry of PUPR, the Directorate General of Public Works and Housing Infrastructure Financing revealed that the millennial segment is the majority of the low-income segment (MBR) that utilizes the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) subsidy.

"Indeed, if we look at the MBR segment, this is the case, so there are more than 70 percent who take advantage of the FLPP subsidy are millennials," said Director General of Public Works and Housing Infrastructure Financing, Herry Trisaputra Zuna, quoting Antara, Sunday, September 19.

Herry also added that 11 percent of the MBR segment that utilizes the FLPP facility comes from Generation Z (Gen Z).

"This may be our challenge in the future how we can further complete the features to facilitate the (young) generation to be able to obtain housing in the future," he said.

According to Herry, so far all parties have focused on MBR, but actually there are segments above MBR who also have the same difficulty accessing houses. This might later become a collective homework, how to have products available to them, especially how to push housing more to urban areas.

"Currently, more facilities are directed out of town, perhaps the challenge ahead is how to structure it, starting with affordable housing prices, then subsidy products that also allow low-income people and the middle class to access housing better," said the Director General of Financing.
