Gus Miftah Admits That Deddy Corbuzier's Polemic Regarding Students Covering Their Ears Is Also His Mistake

JAKARTA – Religious figure Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman (Gus Miftah) admits that the polemic that is currently afflicting Deddy Corbuzier is part of his fault.

According to him, as a mentor figure for Deddy, he also felt responsible for this incident.

“I think this is one of the impacts on me, who is considered your teacher. So maybe it's my fault. If you apologized like that earlier, it means this is also part of my failure as a teacher. This means that the transfer of knowledge between me and you may not be perfect," he said on Deddy Corbuzier's Youtube channel on Sunday, September 19.

However, Gus Miftah is sure that this unfortunate incident will bring positive lessons for Deddy and himself.

“I think it's one of the learning processes you have to go through. Maybe in the learning stage, there must be something wrong," he said.

In fact, the Islamic figure is well aware of the limitations of his knowledge, thus freeing Deddy to gain knowledge from anyone. The reason is, he understands that the knowledge brought by an ordinary human being is not really perfect and cannot cover anything.

“In this area, I will say that I never asked Deddy to only learn from me, but with everyone. And one of the lessons may be from yesterday's case," he said.

For information, in his podcast, Deddy Corbuzier admits that he made a mistake regarding the comments of students memorizing the Koran by covering their ears while waiting for their turn to be vaccinated.

"First of all, I want to apologize profusely because yesterday I was stupid and commented on the problem of students who closed their ears. I couldn't see the situation at the time. I think the students are queuing for the vaccine, then the teacher is forbidden to listen to music,” said Deddy.

He also explained that as an ordinary human being, we are not free from mistakes and will definitely make mistakes again in the future.

"I'm not perfect either, and I'm bound to make mistakes again. So if you expect me to be perfect all the time, I'm sorry I can't. For all my brothers who are annoyed, offended, and also for the students, because I still have a lot to learn about religion and about humans. But this is okay because I like to learn. So thank you, and I'm sorry for the noise that happened," he explained.
