Sigit Is Happy, A Resident Of Deli Serdang Who Was Called By Jokowi And Then Given A Jacket

JAKARTA - A resident in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra named Sigit, admitted that he was very proud and happy to receive a memento from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during a review of the COVID-19 vaccination in the district.

Sigit, in a video uploaded to the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube, said that he was suddenly summoned by President Jokowi. To Sigit, the President said the jacket he gave him was a keepsake.

"This is for you, as a keepsake," said Sigit, imitating President Jokowi's words to himself, reported by Antara, Friday, September 17.

Sigit also felt so happy. He said he would never forget that moment.

"I'm really proud, I won't forget it. For memories, the President has given me a jacket for the rest of my life," said Sigit, who is also a recipient of the COVID-19 vaccine in Deli Serdang.

The President gave his jacket to Sigit during the door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination at Emplasmen Kuala Namu Village, Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, Thursday, September 17.

From the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube video which was uploaded on Friday, September 17, it can be seen that President Jokowi was greeting the villagers who welcomed him. The president wears a black mask, white shirt, while carrying a green jacket.

Suddenly the President pointed and called one of the residents around him. The resident is known as Sigit.

"Blue shirt, here," said the President.

After being invited by members of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres), Sigit then ran to the President. Sigit was silent for a while, as was the President.

"What?" Jokowi joked which was greeted by laughter from Sigit and the local residents.

In the warm atmosphere between the President and the citizens, Jokowi then gave his green jacket.

The locals who witnessed the incident burst into applause. "Thank you, sir," said Sigit who immediately put on the jacket.

"Suddenly, I was called, and I immediately ran over there, he said. He said that he was wearing a blue shirt. I immediately came to Pak Jokowi," said Sigit. Previously, the President had also given his jacket to residents while reviewing vaccinations in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, on 30 June 2021, and when reviewing flood victims in East Nusa Tenggara in early April 2021.

During a vaccination review in Beringin, Deli Serdang Regency, the President reminded the public to continue to implement health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance and washing hands. The President also asked the public to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Later on, we will invite the public to live side by side with COVID-19, meaning that health protocols are the key, vaccination is the key," said President Jokowi.
