When Gibran's Supporting Political Parties And Supporters Answer Rumors To Advance For The 2024 DKI Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - Rumors of Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka being pushed forward in the upcoming 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election contestation are increasingly rising to the public surface.

Political parties are also rumored to support the eldest son of President Joko Widodo to jump to the capital. It is known that in the 2020 Solo Pilkada the Gibran - Teguh pair was carried by PDIP with the support of Gerindra, Golkar, PAN, PKB, NasDem, PPP, PSI, and Perindo.

So, what is the response of PDIP as the supporting party? Will the bull party support it?

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has responded to the issue of Gibran advancing for DKI 2024. Not yet talking about supporting support, PDIP has instead warned that regional heads, including Gibran, should not be disturbed by electoral rumors.

"We hope that their work will not be disturbed by offers and political liberal speculation," said senior PDIP politician Hendrawan Supratikno to VOI, Thursday, September 16.

Hendrawan emphasized that all party officials, including cadres and regional heads who are being carried, are currently focusing on dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still holding Mother Earth hostage.

"Now everyone is focusing on the work of handling COVID-19 and economic recovery," he said.

PDIP is actually stifled by the issue of Gibran's advancement in the upcoming DKI gubernatorial election. The reason is that the 2024 Pilkada is still far away.

"I'm surprised what has been clearly blurred. Political industry activists are so eager to enliven the stage before the season arrives," said Hendrawan.

Meanwhile, as one of the parties supporting Gibran - Teguh in the 2020 Solo City Election, PKB responded more casually.

Although he did not clearly explain the issue of support, the Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Jazilul Fawaid, assessed that Gibran's discourse to run for the 2024 DKI Pilgub was certainly related to the performance and achievements of President Jokowi's eldest son.

"Please just talk. Because it will be closely related to his performance and achievements as Mayor of Solo," said Jazilul to VOI, Thursday, September 16.

Regarding eligibility, the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR considered it appropriate if Gibran wanted to try out the DKI 1 seat in 2024. Moreover, if Gibran is able to make achievements in Solo from now on.

"Yes, it's appropriate, especially if it's an achievement," said Gus Jazil.

Wait for Gibran Achievements

Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, M. Jamiluddin Ritonga, assessed that the push for Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run for the 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election was too much. Because, according to him, Gibran has not been the mayor of Solo for a long time, whose achievements have yet to be seen.

"If Gibran's performance is still as it is today, it seems that there is a risk of pushing him forward for the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election. Because the capacity of the Governor of DKI Jakarta is ideally equivalent to that of a minister," Jamiluddin said in his statement to VOI, Thursday, September 16.

According to Jamil, Gibran's capacity as mayor of Solo still needs to be tested. President Joko Widodo's eldest son, he said, must be able to prove his extraordinary performance first as mayor.

"So just let Gibran organize the city of Solo until his term as mayor ends. From there it will be seen whether Gibran is worthy of competing in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election," he said.

Similarly, Executive Director of the Indonesian Public Institute (IPI) Karyono Wibowo, assesses that Gibran Rakabuming Raja has a high chance of running in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

However, the Mayor of Solo must work extra hard to improve his achievements and track record as a capable regional head.

"Gibran has quite a lot of opportunities in DKI Jakarta, but we have to look at his competitors. For example, against Anies, then other figures, he has to work hard and convince the voters or the people of DKI Jakarta," Karyono told VOI, Tuesday, September 14.

According to him, Gibran will win the 2024 DKI Pilkada if he manages to make a legacy of achievements while leading the city of Solo. Especially. Karyono said, Governor Anies Baswedan was not strong enough to run again in the upcoming Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"It would be easier if Gibran already had a legacy. Actually, Anies isn't very strong as governor, so Gibran's chances are quite big," he said.

In addition, he continued, Gibran must have a concrete policy breakthrough that can be seen by many people and can be felt by the community.

"So we don't just rely on popularity, but we also have to rely on achievement, performance, capacity and capability," said Karyono.
