In The Midst Of The Formula E Chaos, Anies' Subordinates Claim That Communication With FEO Is Quite Good

JAKARTA - Managing Director of Jakarta EPrix PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), Gunung Kartiko said that DKI's communication relationship with Formula E Operation (FEO) as the promoter and license holder of ABB FIA Formula E is still quite good even though the plan for the event in Jakarta is controversial.

"Communication with FEO is currently underway and shows quite positive progress," Kartiko said when contacted, Thursday, September 16.

Currently, Kartiko admits that the BUMD belonging to the DKI Provincial Government is still conducting a feasibility study on the calculation of the cost of implementing Formula E.

Kartiko said that the review of the electric-powered car racing event was revised to take into account the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are conducting a comprehensive review regarding the calculation of costs and implementation after this pandemic," he said.

DKI's ability to budget for Formula E is currently constrained. There is still a commitment fee payment to the cost of the implementation.

Therefore, Kartiko said that his party would cut the costs of Formula E spending by reducing a number of activities or ceremonies before the race was held (pre-race).

"The cost of organizing it will be adjusted according to conditions, especially for some pre-race events it will be reduced," he said.

In addition, Jakpro is still looking for funding sources in the form of partnerships and sponsors from other parties. This is done in accordance with the recommendations of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

It is known that the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, wants Formula E to be held in June 2022. This was confirmed through Governor's Instruction Number 49 of 2021 concerning the Settlement of Regional Priority Issues in 2021-2022.

In this instruction, there are 28 issues that are the targets of achieving the completion of regional priority issues in 2021-2022. One of the issues on the list is the implementation of Formula E.

So far, Anies has paid a commitment fee paid in 2019 of 20 million pounds sterling, equivalent to IDR 360 billion, a commitment fee in 2020 of 11 million pounds sterling or equivalent to IDR 200 billion, and a bank guarantee of 22 million pounds sterling or IDR 423 billion. The total is almost IDR 1 trillion.

However, Anies still has to pay off the obligation to pay the Formula E commitment fee for 5 years. The estimated unpaid commitment fee is IDR 2.3 trillion.

The plan to hold Formula E in the DPRD is still a polemic. The PDIP and PSI factions proposed an interpellation right to Anies to ask for an explanation on this matter.
