JAKARTA - Members of the Matraman Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested two angkot drivers while smoking marijuana at Rawamangun Terminal, East Jakarta, Thursday, September 15.
Matraman police chief Kompol Tedjo Asmoro said the two angkot drivers had the initials M and YS. Both were arrested while waiting for passengers at Rawamangun Terminal.
"The two suspects who are users are drivers of the KWK public transportation (cooperative for Kalpika rides). Both are secured at Rawamangun Terminal," Tedjo Asmoro said in Jakarta as quoted by Antara.
He said the arrest process began when members of the Matraman Police Criminal Investigation Unit received information on drug transaction activities at Rawamangun Terminal.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Unit then disguised themselves as prospective passengers and found M and YS smoking marijuana while waiting for passengers.
"After being secured, we conducted an examination, both of them admitted to having received marijuana from a dealer in Bekasi. From there, we immediately carried out further investigations," said Tedjo.
Furthermore, Tedjo said that the dealer who supplied the marijuana-type drugs to the driver had also been arrested in Bekasi with one kilogram of evidence ready for distribution.
"It is alleged that Article 111 of Law No. 35 of 2009 carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison. We are still investigating where he sold the packages and where he got them from," said Tedjo.
