Banning Muslims From Traveling To Borobudur Temple Because It's Haram

JAKARTA - Ustaz Sofyan Chalid Ruray's old lecture has gone viral on various social media platforms. Contents of the lecture about the prohibition for Muslims to visit Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java.

Ustaz Sofyan's initial statement stemmed from the question of a congregation, what is the ruling on a Muslim visiting a house of worship of another religion. Is that allowed or not?

Ustaz Sofyan immediately answered. "The law is haram because it includes consent to their worship. That's why we should not sit with people who insult religion,"

"Because God's word says that if you sit with them, you are like them. Because our presence there automatically makes us believe in their beliefs," replied Ustaz Sofyan, quoted from the Youtube channel @Bismillah Everthing, Thursday, September 15.

Ustaz Sofyan reminded Muslims not to visit houses of worship of other religions if they didn't want to be considered outside of Islam. Except for one purpose, to disperse people who are worshiping other than Allah.

This video clip was uploaded in 2018 but has only gone viral now. One response came from social media activist Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda on his Instagram page, @permadiaktivis2.
