PADANG - Deputy Governor of West Sumatra, Audy Joinaldy asked for the willingness of parents of high school/vocational and special school students to allow their children to take part in the Gebyar Vaccination program so that face-to-face learning can be carried out immediately.

"This vaccine is safe and halal. Parents don't need to worry. By vaccinating, face-to-face learning in schools can be accelerated," he said while reviewing vaccinations at SMA N 3 Tanah Datar, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 15.

The Deputy Governor said that since the last few days the Gebyar Vaccine program had been launched for SMA/SMK and SLB students throughout West Sumatra to pursue youth vaccination coverage which was still low.

Temporary data on youth vaccination for the first dose is only 4.5 percent, while for the second dose it is only around 2 percent.

"This vaccination is an effort so that the COVID-19 pandemic can end soon. Therefore, it requires the support of all parties," he said.

The Deputy Governor asked students who had been vaccinated to invite their friends to be vaccinated. Also invite parents who have not been vaccinated.

"We don't limit it to students. Anyone can do it. Parents can also do it. If the vaccine is lacking, just let them know and it will be sent from the province immediately," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Tanah Datar Health Office, Yesrita Zendrianis, said that the vaccine at SMA N 3 had been administered to 285 students out of 376 students.

Some of the students who have not been vaccinated are because some are sick and have not received permission from their parents.

He is sure that the Vaccine Festival in Tanah Datar can run well because so far the enthusiasm of the people to be vaccinated is quite high.
