SURABAYA - The son of the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, Fuad Benardi, admitted that he was relieved that he did not pass the selection for the Board of Directors of the Surya Sembada Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) in Surabaya, East Java, due to age constraints.

"Personally, I am relieved. Because that is the rule that must be obeyed," said Fuad Benardi, who is also the chairman of the Surabaya Youth Organization in Surabaya, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 15.

Fuad failed to enter the selection of service director registration at Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) PDAM Surabaya. Fuad failed to comply with the minimum age limit of 35 years. While Fuad is still 31 years old.

As a millennial, Fuad admitted that he dared to register for the selection of the service director of PDAM Surabaya, to contribute energy and thoughts for the development and interests of the wider community.

According to him, if PDAM services are packaged with digital technology, it will make it easier and at the same time ease the burden on PDAMs.

"I want to give PDAM colors according to what I know about service with the aim of making it easier with a touch of technology," he said.

In addition to intending to contribute to society, the 31-year-old man continued, he also wanted to set an example for the younger generation, especially Surabaya, to dare to appear in the professional field.

"The hope is that the millennial generation will dare to come forward and perform, of course with qualified quality and ability," he said.

When asked whether he was not disappointed as the son of the former mayor of Surabaya, he failed in the selection of a regional company owned by the Surabaya City Government, Fuad admitted that he was not disappointed. According to him, the rules should be enforced to anyone indiscriminately.

"Once again I emphasize, I am relieved. I also appreciate all parties in the selection, one of which is the Pansel which has enforced the rules properly. If everything is like this, I am sure that the wheels of government will run well which will affect the welfare of the people," he said.

Fuad also advised the younger generation not to be easily discouraged if they fail. "Never give up. Failure is normal.
