Delaying School Opening Every Day, DKI Provincial Government Doesn't Want To Be Careless

JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government has postponed the plan to implement limited face-to-face learning (PTM) in schools every day. Previously, DKI planned to implement PTM every day last Monday.

The Head of Public Relations of the DKI Education Office, Taga Radja Gah, said that his party did not want to rush to open schools every day. Because, it is feared that this will cause a COVID-19 cluster.

"The plan is that we hope that PTM can be carried out every day at school and children may experience PTM twice a week," said Taga when contacted, Tuesday, September 14.

Currently, Disdik DKI is providing assistance to 610 schools that implement limited PTM to continue to comply with the implementation of health protocols. Face-to-face schooling is currently still held three times a week, namely on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

"Our focus is on 610, which has implemented it, now we are being monitored for violations of health procedures or exposure to COVID-19. However, so far there have been no such reports. Anyway, we are continuing to provide assistance," he said.

Previously, the Head of the DKI Education Agency, Nahdiana, said that his party plans to open schools for PTM every day in the third week.

During the first two weeks, PTM in 610 schools in Jakarta was conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Then, on Tuesdays and Thursdays the school environment is sprayed with disinfectant. "In the first two weeks, the cycle is now the school is open one day, then one day it is closed. One day the children enter, one day they are disinfected. Then in the third week we start schools open every day," said Nahdiana on Thursday, September 2nd.

However, the opening of schools from Monday to Friday does not mean that all students also study in class every day. Each class continues to take turns attending school, as well as learning online from home.

"Let's say that elementary school students are studying in 6th grade schools. That's what we practice in blended learning. So, for example, there are 6 to 10 lessons a day, meaning that others have online lessons," explained Nahdiana.
