Bali Governor Wayan Koster Launches Balinese Script Keyboard, Here's What It Looks Like

DENPASAR - For the first time in history and the first time in Indonesia, the Balinese script as one of the original scripts of the archipelago was transformed into digital form using media in the form of a Balinese script keyboard.

This keyboard was launched by the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster, to coincide with the Tumpek Landep Holy Day, Saturday (Saniscara Kliwon, Landep).

This Balinese script keyboard is a creative and original idea from the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster. He commissioned the development by the Research Team from the Informatics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University.

The launch of the Balinese Script Keyboard was carried out in a hybrid manner (offline and online) attended by 45 elementary, junior high, high school/vocational high school students, district/city special schools in Bali, and 4 student representatives from Udayana University, Denpasar Institute of the Arts, State Hindu University I Good Lord Denpasar.

Quoted from a statement from the Bali Provincial Government Public Relations, Bali Governor Wayan Koster in his speech emphasized that the idea of developing a Balinese Script Keyboard is a continuation of the implementation of the Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali Vision policy through the Planned Universe Development Pattern towards a New Era of Bali.

The aim is to protect the existence of Balinese script as a noble heritage from the Balinese Ancestors, which began with the issuance of Bali Governor Regulation Number 80 of 2018 concerning the Protection and Use of Balinese Language, Script, and Literature as well as the Implementation of Balinese Language Month and Bali Provincial Regulation Number 4 year 2020.
