JAKARTA - PT KAI Commuter Indonesia has issued a policy that allows 12-year-old children to use KRL trains, in line with the implementation of vaccine certificates for prospective passengers, effective from today, Saturday, September 11.
"Children aged 12 years are allowed (to ride the KRL), those who have not been vaccinated are allowed but if it is in the interest of health and education by bringing a certificate. Meanwhile, toddlers are not allowed to take the train," said VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Anne Purba. Saturday.
Anne said all KRL users are required to show a vaccine certificate for at least the first dose or by scanning the QR code on the PeduliLindung application when boarding the KRL.
In line with this, the application of the Worker Registration Certificate (STRP), certificate from the agency or company, or other documents are no longer valid.
When KRL users arrive at the station, he said, they are expected to have prepared a vaccine certificate with an identity card so that field officers can easily check. The vaccine certificate shown can be in print, digital, or through a scan of a QR code with the PeduliLindung application.
To avoid potential overcrowding, he advises traveling outside of peak hours. Users can also open the KRL Access application to view density information at stations and the latest train positions.
"To anticipate overcrowding, we will continue to limit the capacity of entering stations and KRL. Officers will also carry out insulation if conditions at the station or KRL are in accordance with the quota," he said.
He emphasized that strict health protocols still apply at the station. Users must go through body temperature measurements when entering the station. Users are also required to wear double masks, wash their hands before and after boarding the KRL and maintain a safe distance.
KAI Commuter also urges the public to continue to do their best from home to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
He added that since the implementation of the mandatory socialization of vaccines, the volume of KRL users is still stable. The volume of KRL users on Wednesday and Thursday, September 8-9, averaged 295,778 people per day.
This figure is an increase of about two percent compared to Monday-Tuesday, September 6-7, before the socialization period for the mandatory implementation of the vaccine, which was 289,146 users per day.
"The number of trips has been very large, before the pandemic with 1.1 million passengers we ran 88 trains. Currently we have run 93-94 trains, although the passenger volume has fallen by 80 percent," he said.
