DPRD Rejects Plan For Relocation Of Government Offices Proposed By The Regent Of Jember

JEMBER - The Jember Regency DPRD agreed to reject the plan to move the government office proposed by the Regent of Jember Hendy Siswanto because it was considered not to be a priority for the community.

"The government center and office development program that suggests the effort to relocate government offices needs to be reviewed," said RPJMD Special Committee spokesman Siswono in Jember, quoted by Antara, Friday, September 10.

According to him, the Jember DPRD did not find a reason and also an analysis of the problems in the substance of the RPJMD. Because the improvement of reliable services should be more directed at the commitment to encourage the implementation of bureaucratic reform, digitization of services, and improvement of supporting infrastructure, not the relocation of government offices.

The same thing was conveyed by the Head of Commission A of the Jember DPRD, Tabroni, who refused to move government offices, including the Jember DPRD Office, which is also planned to be moved to Bintoro Village.

Because future fiscal priorities should focus on health issues, social safety nets and economic recovery during the pandemic.

"The rationale for relocating the Regency Government and DPRD offices from Sumbersari Subdistrict to Patrang Subdistrict for economic equality is clearly not fundamental, so we firmly reject it," he said.

According to him, the relocation of the Regency Government Office and DPRD in Patrang Sub-district (ex-kotatif) is clearly not for economic equality to the north of Jember Regency.

"Economic equity should be more directed at empowering MSMEs, revitalizing traditional markets, and strengthening village tourism and agriculture," he said.

Responding to the refusal, the Regent of Jember Hendy Siswanto when confirmed by reporters said his party would follow the input and notes submitted by the Jember DPRD.

Previously, Hendy conveyed the discourse on relocating the government area including the Jember DPRD Office to the Bintoro Village, Patrang District which will be implemented starting in 2022.

The DPRD building is planned to be built with seven floors in a new place with the aim of organizing the new Jember which is better and all government offices are well integrated because the well-organized Jember government office complex will also attract tourists to come to Jember.
