JAKARTA - The government encourages a number of regions that have been in the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Levels 1 to 3 to conduct limited face-to-face learning (PTM) in schools.
"Indeed, there are local governments that seem not to have the courage (to do limited PTM), they will continue to be encouraged. Because we already know that distance learning (PJJ) is not optimal," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin while reviewing limited PTM in Jakarta. Bogor, West Java, Antara, Thursday, September 9.
In accordance with government policies as outlined in the Regional Ministerial Decree with PPKM Levels 1 to 3, in principle, they may open limited PTMs in schools.
"I think we, the Minister of Education and Technology, will continue to encourage all regions that have met the level to open (limited PTM), so they don't fall behind. Indeed, this will continue to be pushed because there are many lagging behind," he also said.
The vice president hopes that local governments that have not tested or conducted limited PTM will immediately meet the minimum requirements for teaching and learning activities at the school.
"And also related to the readiness of parents, parental permission, of course that's where it goes," he said.
Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim said limited PTM is a hybrid model.
Students who do not get parental permission to participate in limited PTM can still do PJJ, while students with parental permission can participate in learning activities at school.
"The limited PTM has a maximum capacity of 18 children per class for elementary and junior high schools, and five children per class for PAUD (early childhood education). So limited PTM is about 50 percent of the normal capacity," he said.
Nadiem also asked all regional heads to be guided by the Four Ministerial Decree before opening PTM in schools on a limited basis.
