JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly said that most of the bodies of prisoners who were victims of the Tangerang Class I prison fire had been taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. Later, the bodies will be identified.

"The body has been sent to the National Police Hospital for identification," Yasonna told reporters, Wednesday, September 8.

Later, the families of the prisoners can go to the Police Hospital to take DNA samples. The goal is to simplify the identification process. Because the condition of the body is very serious.

"Families can work with Inafis Polri to determine the body, it must go through DNA because the condition of the body is difficult to identify," he said.

On the other hand, Yasonna also asked the public not to be consumed by rumors circulating about the cause of the fire. The police are currently investigating the exact cause.

"I hope you don't speculate until there is more complete information from the Police," said Yasonna.

The Tangerang Class I prison caught fire on Wednesday, September 8, in the early hours of the morning. As a result of the fire, 41 inmates died.

In addition, it was recorded that 8 inmates suffered serious injuries and 72 inmates suffered minor injuries. They have been taken to the clinic for treatment.

So far, the cause of the fire is still being investigated. However, it is suspected that the cause was an electric short circuit.
