Vice President: The Government Is Preparing For The COVID-19 Endemic Scenario

JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the government was preparing a detailed scenario regarding the handling of the COVID-19 endemic in the country.

"The government is preparing the scenario in more detail to deal with the endemic period," said the Vice President after reviewing the COVID-19 Vaccination Center at the UI Salemba Campus, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, September 7.

The vice president said the government predicts that COVID-19 will not disappear quickly until there is an effective drug for the disease caused by the virus.

To be able to end the pandemic period gradually and lead to endemic, he said, the government would continue to implement health protocols and accelerate COVID-19 vaccinations.

"We will continue to implement health protocols and continue to vaccinate. Likewise, if we have been vaccinated twice, we will give the booster and indeed health workers will be given temporarily," he explained.

Giving additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or booster is one of the strategies taken by the government to reduce the level of the pandemic to endemic, he said. "A number of countries, said the Vice President, are starting to consider injecting boosters to the community to increase their body's resistance to COVID-19," he said. .

"In more detail, what kind of scenario is being prepared, what is certain is that the implementation of strict health protocols and vaccinations will continue to three times the dose or booster, this is what the government is now doing," he said.

Earlier on the same day, the Vice President reviewed the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination at the Special Dental and Oral Hospital, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Indonesia (RSKGM FKG UI) in Central Jakarta.

During his visit, the Vice President conveyed the importance of vaccination as the key to the success of handling the COVID-19 pandemic by establishing communal immunity or herd immunity in Indonesia.
