BPBD: Bogor Cidurian River Overflow Damages Bridges And Dozens Of Houses

BOGOR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bogor Regency, West Java stated that the flash floods caused by the overflowing of the Cidurian River on Monday, September 6 evening caused the bridge to collapse and damage dozens of houses.

Head of the Bogor Regency BPBD Emergency Section, Adam Hamdani, when contacted in Bogor, Tuesday morning, said that the flash floods caused damage to infrastructure in four sub-districts, namely Cigudeg, Nanggung, Jasinga, and Sukajaya.

"There are also 50 students and teachers at Ponpes Darussalam who are isolated because the main bridge that spans the Cidurian River is carried away by the current. Currently, the Rapid Response Team (TRC) is trying to get in there," he said, quoted by Antara, early September 7 in the morning.

He said, specifically in Nanggung District, an eight-meter-long road experienced a landslide, precisely in Malasari Village. Then, in Cigowong Village, Sukamaju Village, Cigudeg District, the bamboo bridge was carried away by the flash flood.

Furthermore, the bridge connecting Urug Village, Sukajaya District with Nanggung Village, Nanggung District was carried away by flash floods.

Likewise, the bridge to the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Kalong Sawah Village, Jasinga Sub-district and the Citalahab Bridge, Malasari Village, Nanggung District were also carried away by the current.

"This is still a brief report for a quick review. Certainly the data is dynamic and can still change," he said.

According to him, provisional data stated that the occupants of 10 houses on the banks of the Cidurian River, located in Nanggung Village, Nanggung District, had to be evacuated.

Adam Hamdani explained that the flash flood in the Cidurian River was caused by high rainfall from afternoon to evening in the western region of Bogor Regency.

Meanwhile, the Head of Cigudeg Sub-district, Pardi said that the overflow of the Cidurian River gradually receded at night. But he still asked residents on the banks of the river to evacuate to a relatively safer place.

"Alhamdulillah, it has started to recede. Residents on the banks of the Cidurian River have been temporarily evacuated to safer places for fear of further flooding," he said.
