Reasons Children Often Become Victims Of Adult Rape

JAKARTA - Cases of rape of children have been happening again recently. Not long ago, the man S (40) raped four minors. In fact, his lecherous acts have been committed for the past year.

This rape took place in Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency. While carrying out his lecherous acts, the mode used lured the victim by giving money. Until finally, his actions were revealed on July 1.

Based on the results of the examination, the reason S raped four underage children was because he divorced his wife in 2009.

Then, a similar case occurred in the Denpasar area, Bali. The 54-year-old man with the initials IMY was determined to rape his son-in-law, NMS, who was sleeping at the time, on April 29, 2020.

The lecherous act of this old man began when the victim fell asleep in a room with the door unlocked. Then, IMY entered the room and immediately covered and raped the victim.

For several months, the victim did not dare to tell anyone. Until finally, the victim told her parents about this lecherous act of her father-in-law.

So, they decided to report IMY's actions to the police on June 29. A day later from reporting, IMY was arrested at his residence.

The reason children are victims of rape

With the rampant rape that makes minors as victims, a criminal law observer from Al Azhar University, Suparji Ahmad said, at least there are several factors that cause this to happen.

However, one of the biggest factors, namely, the perpetrator's sense of security. Because, by making the child the victim, the perpetrator can threaten at will so that the victim doesn't report.

So that with this threat, the victim will feel afraid and choose to keep silence to anyone for what has happened.

"Feel safe because he is in an environment that he controls and is closed because outside access cannot enter," said Suparji, Sunday, July 5.

Another factor relates to the psychological problems of the offender or deviant sex. So, the perpetrator is deliberately targeting children as an outlet for his lecherous lust.

On the other hand, the driving factor is the opportunity. With the opportunity, the perpetrator can freely do what he wants, including rape.

"The open opportunity to commit the crime is the driving force," concluded Suparji.
