DPR PPP Faction Urges Government To Allocate Islamic Boarding School Endowment Funds

JAKARTA - Secretary of the PPP faction of the DPR RI, Achmad Baidowi, encouraged the government to allocate an endowment fund for pesantren in the 2022 fiscal year from the education endowment fund. Pesantren endowment in 2022 which is taken from the education endowment fund," said Achmad Baidowi in his statement in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Sunday, September 5. (1) and (2). Article 49 Paragraph (1) states that the Government provides and manages the pesantren endowment fund which is sourced and is part of the education endowment fund. Article 49 Paragraph (2) states that the provisions concerning the pesantren endowment fund as referred to in paragraph (1) is regulated by presidential regulation.

Baidowi said that the regulation obliges the government to provide a budget for pesantren and the establishment of a pesantren endowment fund sourced from education funds. Pesantren is related to the pesantren endowment fund," he said. Baidowi assessed that the existence of the pesantren endowment fund was a form of state presence to maintain the sustainability of pesantren in Indonesia. Regarding the amount of the pesantren endowment fund, he left it entirely to the government to adjust it to the current state's ability and financial condition.
