Freed From Prison, Saipul Jamil Was Not Only Involved In A Case Of Obscenity, But Also Bribery Of A Court Clerk Handled By KPK

JAKARTA - Saipul Jamil is free from prison. His freedom was highlighted by many people about the glorification of Saipul Jamil.

Saipul Jamil is not only entangled in cases of obscenity. But he was also caught in the bribery case of Rohadi, who at that time served as a clerk at the North Jakarta District Court.

Launching Antara, Saipul Jamil was sentenced to prison for two different cases that ensnared him, namely an obscene case with a sentence of three years in prison in 2016.

Saipul had filed an appeal to the DKI Jakarta High Court (PT), but the sentence was increased to five years in prison.

In the middle of the case, Saipul Jamil was proven to have bribed the clerk of the North Jakarta District Court in the amount of IDR 250 million so that his sentence was increased by three years in prison.

Corruption Court Sentence

The Panel of Judges on July 31, 2017 sentenced them to 3 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 100 million, subsidiary to 3 months in prison. Saipul Jamil, according to the judge, was proven to have bribed the clerk of the Jakut District Court at that time, Rohadi, in the amount of Rp. 250 million for handling immoral cases.

The panel of judges, as quoted by Antara, stated that it was proven that Saipul Jamil together with his lawyers namely Kasman Sangaji and Berthanatalia Ruruk Kariman and Saipul's older brother, Samsul Hidayatullah, had given Rp250 million to Rohadi related to the handling of the Saipul Jamil molestation case.

Previously in the obscenity case handled by the panel of judges at the North Jakarta District Court, the prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of 7 years and a fine of Rp. 100 million, subsidiary of 6 months in prison, to Saipul Jamil.

Rohadi, who was then the clerk of the Jakut District Court, requested that Rp500 million be provided so that the case led by judge Ifa Sudewai could be sentenced to one year in prison.

In the end, Saipul Jamil gave Rp. 300 million. Meanwhile, in the verdict of the Jakut District Court judge, the verdict against Saipul Jamil was 3 years in prison.
