TV Thief In Rantauprapat District Court Shot By Police

Perpetrators of television theft in Rantauprapat District Court (DOK Police)

MEDAN - Police arrested a man named Carli (41) for stealing a television at the Rantauprapat District Court, North Sumatra. Police shot the thief in the leg as he tried to escape.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Labuhanbatu Police, AKP Parikhesit, said the television theft occurred on Monday, August 2. The TV stolen by the perpetrator was in the waiting room of the Rantauprapat District Court.

Knowing the theft, the Rantauprapat District Court made a report to the Labuhanbatu Police. The police then arrested the perpetrator at his home, Tiga Panah District.

"The perpetrator fled through the back door of his house. Then he climbed through the roof of the house towards the back of his house," said Parikhesit, Friday, September 3.

A few hours later, the perpetrator turned out to be back at his house. Carli tried to trick the officers by hiding on the roof of the house.

"The perpetrator was then arrested," said Parikhesit.

From the results of the interrogation, this theft recidivist confessed to his actions.

"He stole it at around 02.00 WIB, by entering the waiting room of the Rantauprapat District Court and then taking the television that was hanging by opening the bolts using a screwdriver," explained Parikhesit.

After that, the perpetrator sold the stolen television to a dealer named Aun for Rp. 1.4 million. The police then asked Carli to show Aun's house, but on the way Carli tried to escape so the police shot her in the leg.

"Officers (had) given warning shots 2 times into the air, but the perpetrators ignored them, then they were given decisive action measured towards the perpetrator's left foot," he said.

After that, the police went to Aun's house in the District of Bilah Hulu, Labuhanbatu Regency. The police arrested him without a fight and seized a 42-inch LG TV as evidence.
