JAKARTA - The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, has suggested that the entry and exit permit (SIKM) for people traveling from and to DKI Jakarta be removed.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, rejected the proposal to revoke SIKM. Syafrin said that the implementation of SIKM in Governor Regulation Number 60 of 2020 concerning Control of Travel Activities in DKI Jakarta in Efforts to Prevent COVID-19 remains in effect.

This is because, according to Syafrin, currently President Joko Widodo is still setting Indonesia in the status of a non-natural national disaster due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"SIKM remains in effect until the determination of the non-natural disaster status ends, as stipulated in Presidential Decree No. 12/2020," said Syafrin when contacted, Thursday, July 2.

In Article 4 of Pergub 60 of 2020, it is explained that every person who will travel out and / or enter the DKI Jakarta Province is obliged to apply for SIKM.

However, SIKM is excluded for people who have a Jabodetabek ID card, and foreigners who have a KTP or permanent residence permit and have a limited stay in Jabodetabek.

Then, everyone who does not have SIKM if they come from DKI Jakarta Province, will be directed to return to their home or place of residence. If they come from outside DKI, they will be directed to return to their place of origin.

Until now, Syafrin said that his party was still checking SIKM on a number of arterial roads in the Jakarta border area. "The insulation is still implemented on arterial roads," he said.

As is known, the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, suggested that the SIKM people who wish to travel from and to Jakarta be eliminated.

"Regarding SIKM, this is indeed the authority of the DKI Jakarta Regional Government. I have given a note to the task force so that it is all eliminated," said Budi.

The reason was that Budi thought that the implementation of SIKM was not optimal. According to him, SIKM is useless because it is only applied to users of public transportation, while private vehicle users are not applied the same thing.

"Because it is useless. (Transportation passengers, red) air, trains, buses (obliged to apply SIKM, red), but land is not done," he said.
