Khofifah: Limited Face-to-face Learning In East Java Is Carried Out In Stages

JEMBER - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said limited face-to-face learning in East Java would be carried out in stages in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs.

"Thank God the face-to-face learning process has gradually been implemented in East Java. We will carry out hybrid learning because some are face-to-face and some still have to be virtual," he said after reviewing vaccinations at SMK Negeri 5 Jember Regency, quoted by Antara, Thursday, 2 September.

In the Inmendagri, continued Khofifah, limited face-to-face learning may be carried out for areas whose Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) are at levels 3, 2, and 1.

"Alhamdulillah, in East Java, there are 29 regencies/cities in level 3 and 2. Since August 31, 2021, in East Java, there are no longer red zones," he said.

According to him, the implementation of limited face-to-face learning must still be carried out with full caution with strict health protocols and under supervision by the COVID-19 Task Force Team in each school.

"I think the COVID-19 task force at SMKN 5 Jember is cool. The peer task force is important because it can remind each other of friends, but the task force from teachers is also important to provide guidance, and the task force from parents is also important," he said.

Khofifah hopes that vaccination will be prioritized for grade 12 students because they will be connected to the business world, industry, and the world of work, so that competency standards must be adjusted to market needs.

"I hope that the vaccination process will be accelerated, as well as the improvement of competency standards, so that students become confident," said the former Minister of Social Affairs.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Jember, Hendy Siswanto, said that the Jember Regency Government continues to boost vaccinations in the tobacco city, so that face-to-face learning can be carried out.

"Thank you for the support, Mrs. Governor came to Jember to ensure vaccination for students. If there is vaccination assistance for students, Jember should be prioritized so that they can return to face-to-face learning," he said.
