Airplane Passengers At Juanda Airport Surabaya Increase 60 Percent After PPKM Level 3

SIDOARJO - The number of passengers using air transportation services at Juanda International Airport Surabaya in Sidoarjo, East Java increased by about 60 percent following the decline in the PPKM level status.

Juanda International Airport Surabaya Public Relations Yuristo Adi said that when PPKM level four in Sidoarjo Juanda Airport only served about 6,000 people a day.

"However, since August 24, 2021 or the decline of PPKM to level three, there have been an average of 9,000 passengers per day," he said in Sidoarjo, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 2.

He said, according to available data, on August 24, or the first day of PPKM, the number of passengers in Juanda dropped to level three as many as 6,806 people.

"Then successively on the 25th as many as 10,173 people, on the 26th as many as 10,368 people, on the 27th as many as 9,303 people, on the 28th as many as 10,440 people, on the 29th as many as 9,762 people, on the 30th as many as 7,676 people, on the 31st as many as 8,894 people and September 1 as many as 11,174 passengers," he said.

Previously, to improve service to passengers, Juanda Airport opened a COVID-19 antigen test with a service without getting off to avoid crowds that risk increasing the transmission of COVID-19.

PTS. General Manager of Juanda International Airport, MMA. Indah Preastuty, in a written statement in Sidoarjo, said that for the convenience of service users, Juanda International Airport innovated to add one additional facility, namely an antigen test with non-stop service.

"To take advantage of this service, service users do not need to get out of the vehicle or queue and operate from August 26, 2021 in the parking area of Juanda International Airport," he said.

Indah said that this non-stop antigen test service is open from 04.30 WIB to 18.00 WIB every day.

"We hope that with this additional facility, it can provide other options for service users who will carry out antigen tests, especially those who do not want to get off the vehicle," said Indah.
