KPI Accompanies MS Reporting Sexual Harassment And Bullying To The Central Jakarta Police

JAKARTA - Commissioner of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Center Nuning Rodiyah accompanied his employee, MS, who experienced acts of sexual harassment and bullying to the Central Jakarta Police. This report, he said, was made on Wednesday, September 1 yesterday.

"Last night I accompanied (MS, ed) at the Central Jakarta Metro Police office to submit a report regarding the materials that MS wrote in his open letter," said Nuning when contacted by VOI by telephone, Thursday, September 2.

The assistance, he said, was carried out as a proof of his institution's commitment to what happened to MS.

"As the KPI has made an official commitment that the KPI in this case, or this case, the MS case, will be committed to providing assistance, especially to the alleged victims," said Nuning.

In addition to legal assistance, he said, KPI will also get other assistance, such as psychological assistance to security guarantees, including if MS feels the need to coordinate with LPSK. As previously reported, MS has officially reported the sexual harassment and bullying he experienced and will be followed up by the Central Jakarta Metro Police.

"The case is being handled by the Central Jakarta Police," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Thursday, September 2.

"Just last night the victim, accompanied by the Central KPI, reported it to the Central Jakarta Metro Police," said Ramadhan.

In addition, the Criminal Investigation Police intervened to investigate the case. In fact, a team of investigators has been deployed.

"Dittipidum will send a team to investigate," said the Director of General Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Andi Rian.

In a chain message, MS called himself a victim of sexual harassment and bullying by seven of his more senior colleagues.

One of the sexual harassments she experienced was in 2015, when the perpetrators violently grabbed her head, hands, feet, stripped her naked, stabbed her, and abused her.

"(They, ed) harassed me by scribbling on my testicles using markers," said MS in a chain message he sent because he felt it was his last resort.

"This incident traumatized me and I lost my emotional stability. How can this kind of evil harassment happen at the Central KPI? What kind of syndicate is the perpetrator? They even documented my gender and made me powerless against them after the tragedy," he added.

As a result of the harassment and bullying she received, MS's mentality changed and she experienced severe stress, humiliation, and severe trauma. In fact, he admitted, often shouted to himself in the middle of the night.
