SURABAYA - The city of Surabaya, East Java has entered the yellow zone or low risk of COVID-19. This is the first time for the City of Heroes since the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020.

"Alhamdulillah, after waiting for so many full moons, now Surabaya is in the yellow zone," said Deputy Chairperson of the Surabaya DPRD, Reni Astuti, in Surabaya, Wednesday.

Reni then reviewed the journey of the COVID-19 zone in the city of Surabaya since 2020. At the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, Surabaya had entered the red zone, once had a red heart and there were also those who said that Surabaya was in the black zone.

"In August 2020 Surabaya entered the orange zone until the spike in COVID-19 cases occurred in July 2021, so Surabaya was again in the red zone," he said.

In early August 2021, Surabaya will enter the orange zone again and enter the yellow zone in September. "This is the first time in the history of a pandemic in Surabaya. Thank you Surabaya residents. Keep up the progress, the pandemic is not over yet, hopefully Surabaya will enter the green zone soon, amen," he said.

Meanwhile, the death rate due to COVID-19 in the city of Surabaya is under control. This refers to the number of funerals carried out according to health protocols (prokes), both at the Babat Jarawat TPU, Keputih TPU and Crematorium. The head of the Surabaya City Health Service (Dinkes) Febria Rachmanita explained in the past week (23-29 August 2021) The number of deaths buried in the process of COVID-19 continues to decline every day. For example, on August 23, the number of Prokes funerals was 13 bodies. Then on August 24-25, the number of funerals for COVID-19 decreased to 10 bodies.

"On August 26 it fell again to 9 bodies, on August 27 to 8 bodies, on August 28 to 6 bodies. That's cumulative from three places, namely TPU Babat Jarawat, TPU Keputih and Crematorium," said Febria.

According to him, on August 29, the number of funerals carried out was zero. This means that not a single health care funeral will be held at the Babat Acne TPU, Keputih TPU or Crematorium.

"This shows the Surabaya City Government's efforts in accelerating the handling of COVID-19 cases, so that the case fatality rate (ratio of death to total positive COVID-19 cases) can be reduced as low as possible," he said.
