Eri Cahyadi: All Surabaya Urban Villages Are No Longer Level 4 COVID-19 Cases

SURABAYA - Active cases of COVID-19 in the city of Surabaya continue to slope. This is evidenced by the absence of Level 4 in all 154 sub-districts of Surabaya.

In fact, the majority of urban villages in Surabaya have Level 1 status. The Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi said he was grateful because 154 urban villages in Surabaya City had left Level 4. This was based on the calculation of the region-based PPKM indicator as of August 29.

"Alhamdulillah, today Surabaya is out of all the urban villages, God willing, there will be no more level 4. Level 3 is only a few, others are already level 2 and level 1," said Mayor Eri Cahyadi at the Surabaya City Hall yard, Tuesday, August 31.

The results of the analysis of indicator data as of August 29, the area that has experienced a decrease in level in Surabaya consists of 29 sub-districts and 124 urban villages. In detail, Level 1 consists of 89 kelurahan, Level 2 has 49 kelurahan, and Level 3 has 16 kelurahan.

Even though all urban villages in Surabaya have left Level 4, Eri said that he would continue to fight to the fullest to suppress the spread of the virus. Even within this week, his party is targeting, the status level in all Surabaya urban villages can drop to Level 2 or even Level 1.

"So God willing, we will fight it out this week to become Level 2. Why? The city government is very embarrassed if it can't move to Level 2 and Level 1," he explained.

Therefore, Eri Cahyadi again encourages residents and stakeholders in Surabaya to continue to work together to suppress the spread of COVID-19. For him, mutual cooperation and empathy are the main capital in breaking the COVID-19 chain.

"So what, we have to work hard and work hand in hand where the people and the Surabaya City Government lower the level from Level 3 to Level 2 and from Level 2 to Level 1," he said.

According to him, accelerating the decline in cases in Surabaya can be done by taking several steps. Starting from the discipline of maintaining health protocols and changing lifestyles by getting used to the unusual.

"I'm not used to wearing masks, but that's the only way to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 to the maximum," he said.

On the other hand, the former Head of the Surabaya City Development Planning Agency (Bappeko) said that the acceleration of vaccination is also a preventive measure in preventing transmission. Meanwhile, if there are residents who are sick, it is immediately possible to move them to prevent transmission in the family environment.

"Who can do this? Yes, the citizens themselves. So it's not the government, we only carry out the mandate of the community, we are only servants," he said.

For information, the indicator for calculating the level carried out is based on the number of active cumulative cases / population X 100,000. For Level 1, it means that in one area there are less than 20 active cases.

While Level 2, in one area there are about 20-50 active cases. Then for Level 3, there are 50-150 active cases in one region. Meanwhile for Level 4, active cases in that one area are above 150.
