Cockpit Indicators Must Be Checked, Airbus Batik Air Aircraft Aceh-Jakarta Emergency Lands At Kualanamu Airport

MEDAN - Airbus Batik Air route Banda Aceh-Jakarta made an emergency landing at Kualanamu Airport, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.

Batik Air with flight number ID-6897 is operated using Airbus 330-300 registration PK-LEL, with a total of 271 guests and 2 (two) cockpit crew and 9 (nine) cabin crew.

The departure schedule from Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport is at 10.45 WIB and is expected to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 12.50 WIB.

"According to the SOP, Batik Air has carried out a pre-flight check by the cockpit crew (pilot) and technicians. The results of the check on the plane, that it is declared airworthy and operational (airworthiness for flight)," said Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a written statement, Sunday, August 29.

In ensuring the safety and security of flight ID-6897, the pilot decided to divert to Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra (KNO).

The reason is that there is an indicator in the cockpit that shows components on one of the aircraft engines that need to be checked or inspected.

"The aircraft has landed normally at Kualanamu International Airport at 11.49 local time. After the plane is parked in its place, all guests are directed to the waiting room to get more information," continued Danang.

Batik Air has submitted information according to the latest developments and is preparing for delay management compensation services based on applicable regulations.

"Batik Air has prepared a replacement aircraft already in Kualanamu to continue to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The plane has been checked and is declared airworthy and operational," said Danang.

Meanwhile, the Airbus 330-300 registration PK-LEL is currently still being checked and inspected by technicians. According to him, Batik Air minimizes the impact, so that other Batik Air flights are not disturbed.
